MediaTek announced a partnership with China's foundry HLMC (Huali Microelectronics) to cooperate on 28-nm process technology development and wafer production, reported Economic Daily News on December 16. The 28-nm process is presently MediaTek's mainstream technology for mobile phone chips, with foundry partners including TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company), UMC (United Microelectronics Corporation), and Global Foundries. Founded in 2010, HLMC has been supporting MediaTek for the production of baseband, wireless and connectivity chips.
